The 120 mile route traces a lot of Stage 1 of this year’s Tour de France but there are some differences.

It starts in Greenwich as I doubt 5,000 cyclists would be welcome in Central London, even if it is on a Sunday morning.

I imagine the Medway Tunnel, Maidstone and Ashford are also missed for the same reason.

UPDATE [June 28] I’ve added the route’s elevation profile.

The five feed stations are at Higham (39km), Aylesford (56km), Tonbridge (79km), Tenterden (129km) and Aldington (155km).

The toughest section will probably be the 50km stretch between Tonbridge and Tenterden and that final climb up to Farthing Common looks like a decidedly nasty way to finish a perfectly good ride.

Can’t wait.

Keep an eye out for number 110 if you are out in the hills around Swindon on Sunday.

The 150km White Horse Challenge will be making its way from Shrivenham through the hills of Wiltshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire passing four famous white horses: Uffington, Broadtown, Cherhill and Hackpen.

Uffington White Horse is thought to be the oldest of all British chalk figures and dates back almost 3,000 years, to the late Bronze Age.

The event is raising money for the WaterAid charity and I’ve setup a sponsorship page here if you are in a particularly supportive, encouraging or donating mood.

You will get a custom fitted bike “for you to use for the entire duration” (very genereous) and will need to document your training via a video diary and blog which will appear on the BBC Sport website.

Candidates need to be “somebody who is in the fair-weather/commuter bracket, is reasonably fit, up for a challenge and comfortable filming themselves.”
