Cycling to school more practical than swimming

September 25, 2007

(cc) Chris HillCycling Plus reports on the CTC’s call for cycling to be given as much school time as swimming in the October 2007 edition (p.9).

CTC director Kevin Mayne is quoted as saying “We would like to see cycle training in the school curriculum in the same way as that other life skill, swimming, which while a thoroughly sustainable means of transport, is not very practical for getting to school.”

Sounds like a great idea, I just wonder what current subject the CTC suggests should be cut to make way for cycle training?

Also, while cycling is a thoroughly sustainable means of transport, it is not very practical for saving you from drowning.
