My virtual world tour Prague to Rome

November 1, 2007

Despite feeling like I’ve been taking it easy this month I still cycled 918km — the distance between Prague and Rome.

My virtual tour started in London in September and I reached Prague by the end of the month.

Most of October’s riding was only my regular commuting but I did complete three longer rides.

The first was the Ride of the Falling Leaves, a 110km end-of-season event starting from the historic Herne Hill Velodrome.

It was on the first weekend of the month and followed a challenging route through the North Downs.

The following weekend I rode 89km up to Dunstable to catch up with an old friend and then on the last weekend I took an early-morning 98km spin down to Brighton.

The Dunstable ride took me over Dunstable Downs, one of the highest hills in the east of England and my Brighton ride of course featured Ditchling Beacon, the 248m high bump before reaching the coast.
