Ricco questions drug testing accuracy
October 2, 2008
Riccardo Ricco, winner of two stages before being thrown out of last July’s Tour de France for using EPO, will be suspended for 20 months if the Italian Olympic Committee has its way. Ricco, 25, was one of three riders busted for the illegal blood booster. He later confessed, “During the Tour they made 10 tests in about 13 stages. Two were positive and in fact all my tests should have been positive. Therefore the method needs to be checked.”
No wonder doping is such an epidemic in professional cycling if there is only a twenty percent chance of being caught.
